Assumption of command ceremony for the B2M ‘Champlain’ in Brest

On Friday 2 December 2016 at 09:00, at the Brest naval base, the ceremony for the commissioning of the brand new B2M (Multi-Mission Vessel) took place: the B2M ‘CHAMPLAIN’ . The ceremony was chaired by Rear-Admiral Thierry CATARD, organic deputy in Brest to the Admiral commanding the Naval Action Force. The ceremony included the assumption of responsibility for the ship by the Navy, followed by the first colour ceremony, and ended with the assumption of command by Lieutenant Jérémy MONTASTIER.

Endorsed by the 2013 Military Planning Act, the B2Ms are multi-tasking vessels that carry out maritime safety missions and protect French interests overseas.

The third unit in the B2M program to be built in Concarneau, the ‘CHAMPLAIN’ had arrived in Brest the day before the ceremony, which was attended by KERSHIP, represented by Pascal Piriou, Chairman of the eponymous group.
