As part of the four-unit program announced by the French Defence Procurement Agency (Direction Générale de l’Armement), the first Bâtiment de Soutien et d’Assistance Hauturier (BSAH) ‘LOIRE’ was launched at Concarneau on 1 June.
With a length of 70 metres and a displacement of 2,600 tonnes, they will be able to take on board a crew of 17 sailors and 12 additional personnel.
Planned to be operated by the French Navy, they will be used for force support, regional support and maritime safety missions.
