The PLV 72 is a versatile ocean-going logistic icebreaker. She is designed to cover the ever-growing spectrum of missions achieved by navies and administrations, such as EEZ surveillance, logistic support, and scientific missions in polar maritime areas.
The design of the PLV 72 is the result of the cooperation between KERSHIP -specialist in Multi Purpose Vessels (MPV) shipbuilding- and AKER ARCTIC -recognized icebreaker expert designer.
The PLV has been operated by the French Navy since 2017 in the Austral and Antarctic French Territories.
