Launching of the second BSAH ‘Rhône

The second Support and Assistance Ship (BSAH) ‘RHONE’ was launched in Concarneau today in the presence of her crew, as part of the program to build four new ships.

The first BSAH, the ‘LOIRE’, is currently on the way to her home port of Toulon.

With a length of 70 meters and a displacement of 2,600 tonnes, they carry a crew of 17 sailors and can accommodate a further 12 members.

Planned to be operated by the French Navy, they will be used for force support, regional support and maritime safety missions.
